Using one of the ancient Chinese terracotta warriors for this woven costume’s inspiration, this weaving structure is a variation of a six-shaft broken twill. The materials include pearl cotton and rayon yarns, ribbons, as well as turquoise and Asian beads. Rusty, smashed bottle caps adorn the edges of the painted shield behind the costume. The misty background lets the shield and garment float in the atmosphere of past history.
I know that Mr. Chinn wears his uniform proudly, but with his colorful ascot and REALLY fancy trousers, he is truly a free spirit: “A Fancy Pants.”
