Rivers here in Oregon run year-around, and when the sun touches the ripples and waves, they sparkle. The shades of clear blue and poison green emphasize the light and shadow on the waters.
This twill weave structure is a point twill, which forms diamond patterns. The ribbons are woven in, using an "Anderson Reed". This reed was available in the early 1990's, and has removable blades, leaving more spaces for the ribbon widths. That way, a ribbon can stay flat and be easily woven into the costume.
Cottons are used, along with rayon yarns and ribbons. The small, metal-like fish beads surround the larger ceramic fish.
